Immune Support Tips for Back-to-School Season
With busy schedules and more time indoors, immune support becomes essential during back-to-school season. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the immune system is closely tied to the lung and digestive systems — both of which can be strengthened by acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Here are a few simple ways to support your immune system this season:
Get Enough Rest
On a good day, I’m in bed by 8. Maybe not asleep yet, but winding down for sure. Sleep is where true recovery happens. Of course, if you’re in perimenopause or a stress case (like many of the people I know), sleep might not come so easily.
The beauty of Chinese medicine is that there’s actually a time for everything. If you land in our clinic and tell us you always wake at 1:00 a.m. or 4:00 a.m., we know exactly what meridians and organ systems to treat to help you rest. No more insomniacs on our watch — unless you’re a genuine night owl, in which case you’ve probably already learned how to manage your days.
Eat warm, cooked foods.

This one is right up there with sleep as a crucial focus for fall. So much so that I’ve co-written a book about it! Start with a Qi reset: think of it as “baby food for adults” to soothe the system after the excesses of summer and gently transition into the season.
Try Acupressure at Lung 7

This point, just above the wrist, helps boost immunity and release the early signs of a cold. You’ll see it in our newsletter, on our socials, and it’s a point we’re using plenty of this season in clinic.
And of course… Regular acupuncture treatments this season not only strengthen immunity but also help regulate stress, which plays a huge role in staying well.
Big Takeaway
A little prevention now can mean fewer sick days in the future. (Your boss can thank me later.)
